Anahtar Kelimeler
This article examines the economic, social, cultural, and
societal impacts of migration on women and addresses the challenges and
opportunities faced by women immigrants from a gender perspective.
Additionally, it aims to contribute to the development of fairer migration
policies and practices. In this article, the relationship between women and
migration from a gender perspective is explored. The unique challenges and
opportunities encountered by female immigrants during the migration experience
are assessed, and a general framework is presented to help create fairer
migration policies and practices. The migration experiences of women immigrants
encompass both opportunities and challenges. While many immigrant women can
access education, improved living conditions, and better healthcare, a significant
portion of them may have to cope with issues such as violence, abuse, and
poverty. The subjective problems of immigrant women are closely related to
various factors, including the living conditions in their countries of origin,
social support networks, individual characteristics of women, as well as the
gender regime and their positioning in the labor market in the host country. Access to the social and economic rights of immigrant women
can be achieved through gender-sensitive policies. In this context, it is crucial
to remove barriers in areas such as employment, language skills, socio-cultural
adaptation, and access to healthcare. Another important aspect to consider is
the integration policies of central governments, as well as the responses of
local authorities and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to the demands of
immigrant women. The role of these institutions in promoting social inclusion
and their impact on the social integration of immigrant women should also be
evaluated. Vulnerable groups of immigrants, including those with limited
education and skills, may face more significant challenges. In this regard, the
widespread implementation of special support programs for immigrant women,
opportunities for education and professional development, social policy
measures promoting fair working conditions, and empowering social service
programs, in which immigrant women can contribute to problem-solving, are all
highly important.
