Autoimmune hepatitis(AIH) is a progressive chronic
liver disease. The close follow-up and medical treatment arrangement is very
important throughout pregnancy and especially in the early post-pregnancy
period. The patient should be informed in detail about fetal or maternal
complications that may occur during pregnancy and patient management should be
organized very well in case these complications develop. Teratogenic drugs
should be avoided. In the puerperium, since the risk of disease exacerbation
may increase due to physio-pathological changes,it may be planned to increase
the dose of immunosuppressive drugs’ in this period. Patients should be
followed up in a multidisciplinary manner.
