Geriatri Ve Üst Gastrointestinal Sistem Motilitesi
Anahtar Kelimeler
Although there is an increased prevalence of some
gastrointestinal disorders in older people, aging per se appears to have less
of a direct impact on most gastrointestinal functions. As gastroenterologists,
we often encounter elderly patients suffering from dysphagia, anorexia,
dyspepsia, and colonic dysfunction. Therefore, understanding age-related
changes in gastrointestinal physiology and the effects of common comorbid
diseases will improve the ability to assess and treat these common, distressing
symptoms. In geriatric patients, the main goal should be to choose the most
appropriate treatment, taking into account the patient’s current performance
and expected life expectancy.
