Geriatri Ve Primer Karaciğer Maligniteleri
Anahtar Kelimeler
The rise in life expectancy has led to a heightened
understanding of chronic ailments among senior patients. The elderly are more
prone to developing malignancies like Hepatocellular Cancer (HCC). HCC is the
second top reason behind cancer-associated fatalities worldwide, especially in
patients battling HBV, HCV, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. This
widespread prevalence of HCC in the elderly has become a grave global health
concern. Early diagnosis is vital to treat HCC effectively, so it is essential
to screen and educate the elderly population about this disease. Unfortunately,
studies on cancer treatments frequently exclude patients aged over 65 despite
significant physiological changes in this age group that can impact treatment
options. Clinicians should be more vigilant about side effects and conduct
further clinical research specifically tailored to HCC in the elderly.
Encouraging research in this area will help to increase treatment options and
efficacy.
