Geriatrik Hastalarda Akut Mezenterik İskemi
Anahtar Kelimeler
Mesenteric ischemia, which is a condition in which
blood flow is insufficient to meet the metabolic needs of visceral organs, can
present acutely or chronically. It is mostly seen in the geriatric population.
It is often caused by embolism or thrombosis of the superior mesenteric artery.
Abdominal examination that is not compatible with severe abdominal pain should
be considered as acute mesenteric ischemia until proven otherwise. Patients may
also present with complaints of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and rectal bleeding.
The most practical method for diagnosis is computed tomographic angiography.
Delay in diagnosis may result in mortality. In addition to medical treatments,
surgical treatments can also be an important option.
