Geriatri Ve Alkolik Karaciğer Hastalıkları
Anahtar Kelimeler
Alcohol-related liver diseases refer to a wide
spectrum including diseases such as alcoholic fatty liver, alcoholic
steatohepatitis, alcoholic cirrhosis and hepatocellular cancer. These diseases
are the most common type of chronic liver disease in the world. While there are
many epidemiological and clinical studies in the literature on alcoholic liver
diseases in adulthood, evidence-based data on the frequency of the same
diseases in the geriatric population, clinical presentation and treatment
methods are not sufficient. In general, recognition of these diseases may be
more difficult due to the common occurrence of comorbidities in the geriatric
population. Treatment begins with alcohol cessation, and the steps applied in
young adults are applied similarly in the geriatric population, taking into
account comorbid diseases.
