Gastrointestinal Sistem İlaçlarının Erkek Fertilitesi Üzerine Etkisi
Anahtar Kelimeler
Infertility is a common health issue within society
and frequently encountered in daily medical practice due to various reasons.
Commonly used medical treatments in medical practice can adversely affect male
reproductive health through various mechanisms. Generally, studies examining
the effects of medications on fertility have low levels of evidence, making it
difficult to draw definitive conclusions about the impact of many drugs on
fertility. The adverse effects of certain medications commonly used in gastroenterology
practice, such as sulfasalazine and ribavirin, on semen analyses are
well-documented. Additionally, some medications like beta-blockers and
spironolactone are known to have sexual dysfunction-inducing effects. Due to
their adverse effects on fertility, discontinuing sulfasalazine and ribavirin
before planning pregnancy is a recommended approach. However, there is
insufficient evidence to justify discontinuing other treatments based solely on
concerns about infertility.
