Irritable bowel syndrome is characterized by chronic abdominal
pain and disturbed bowel habits. It is an important disease due to its high
cost, prevalence and morbidity. The majority of women affected by IBS are in
the reproductive age.There are very few studies and guidelines addressing the
effects of IBS on pregnancy and effects of pregnancy on IBS. Treatment of IBS
during pregnancy; It should be individualized to the patient according to the
predominant symptom type.
