Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) which is including
ulcerative colitis, is peaks between 2nd-4th decades.For female patients, this
period is also considered the fertilization period.For this reason, the effect
of the disease on fertilization, the effect of pregnancy on the disease, the
effect of treatment on fertilization and/or pregnancy, and the effects of the
disease or drugs used in treatment on the newborn are important for both
patients and physicians.Young adult female patients with ulcerative colitis
should be informed about pregnancy planning and a healthy pregnancy process
during their follow-up.Pregnancy should be planned for patients while they are
in remission and flares should be prevented during pregnancy.
