Hepatitis B and C viruses are important public health
problems that are common all over the world, requiring long-term follow-up and
treatment, and causing mortality and morbidity. Since mother-to-baby
transmission is an important transmission route, follow-up and treatment of
mothers infected with these viruses during pregnancy and lactation are
important. All pregnant women should be screened for hepatitis B and C
infection at the beginning of pregnancy. Mothers infected with these viruses
should be examined for chronic liver disease. Liver reserve of patients should
be evaluated and viral replication parameters should be investigated.
