Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease
characterized by the presence of endometrium-like tissue outside the uterus.
While its exact cause is unknown, hormonal, genetic, immunological, and
environmental factors may contribute to its development. There is no definitive
treatment, and current medical and surgical options often have side effects,
making diet a potential complementary approach. Plant-based diets, rich in
fiber and antioxidants, may reduce inflammation and lower the risk of
endometriosis. Conversely, high consumption of red and processed meats may
increase the risk. Although diet may influence symptoms, more research is
needed to confirm these effects.
