As a sub-genre of literature, short stories are one of the literary pieces used in young learners’ classes. Due to their rich contents and linguistic features, stories improve learners’ capabilities to use the language in context and lead to a more enjoyable classroom atmosphere where interaction occurs between the learners. This chapter handles the integration of stories into language classes. In this sense, it starts with an introduction which gives brief information about the use of short stories. Then, the benefits and challenges of using short stories in language teaching will be explained. The chapter will be finalised as the last step with a short story and related reading activities.
