Undescendedtesticle
is theconditionwherethetesticleremains on its descent path and can not reach the
scrotal area. The important points in this disease and its surgical treatment
are as follows. Not makingmistakeswhenmaking a
diagnosis, determiningthe time of surgerywell, anddecidingwhetherthesurgery is
openorlaparascopic. The presence of the testicle and its absence in the scrotal
area are the two most important points. Although
some surgeons still find the period of 18 to 24 months of age appropriate for
surgery, all recent studies indicate that the operation can be performed after
6 months of age. Although we think that the earliest age of 1 year would be
suitable for surgery due to the belief that early intervention will harm the
development of the testicle. In unilateral undescended testicles, if the
testicle is not in the abdomen cavity or at the level of the internal ring,
laparoscopic surgery does not have a significant advantage over open surgery.
