Gastrointestinal system bleeding with an unclear focus is
defined as small intestinal bleeding in which the bleeding focus cannot be
detected in upper and lower gastrointestinal system endoscopy. Iron deficiency
anemia is a common entity in the geriatric population and needs to be
investigated. Anemia is usually caused by gastrointestinal bleeding. In cases
where no bleeding focus is detected in upper and lower gastrointestinal system
endoscopy, obscure small bowel bleeding should be considered in the diagnosis
and video capsule endoscopy, push enteroscopy, deep small bowel enteroscopy
(single balloon, double balloon, spiral enteroscopy) and CT should be
performed, taking into account the patient’s clinic. / MR enterography or
angiographic examination should be performed. Treatment; It should be adjusted
according to the clinical characteristics of the patient and the cause of
bleeding.
