Geriatrik Hastalarda Hepatit C Virüs (Hcv) Enfeksiyonu
Anahtar Kelimeler
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infects millions of people
every year, causing a range of acute and chronic events. HCV monitoring and
treatment is important in the geriatric population to prevent complications
such as chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) caused
by the HCV virus and to reduce the burden on the healthcare system. The
clinical course and treatment modalities of the HCV virus in the geriatric
population have partial similarities and differences compared to the young and
adult non-elderly patient population. Thanks to new direct-acting antiviral
agents, it provides the opportunity for curative treatment in the geriatric
population as well as in the young population. In order to reduce mortality and
morbidity due to cirrhosis and HCC caused by the HCV virus, every geriatric
patient should be reviewed in this respect and questioned for direct-acting
antiviral treatment indications.
