tissue is a group of cells that work together to perform one or more functions
in living organisms. These cells communicate and adhere to each other through
direct cell-cell contacts and intermediary molecules that form the
extracellular matrix. Each organ of the body consists of various types of
tissue. The part of science dealing with tissues is known as histology. Light
and electron microscopy are used to describe tissue morphology. The anatomy and
structure of tissues are essential to determine the normal physiology and
pathology of the organs. Therefore, it is important to ensure reliable
scientific studies by knowing the histological properties of experimental
animals.
