Today, most of the scientific researches in the biomedical field are conducted
on laboratory animals unless alternative methods are available. In these
studies, the pathogenesis of diseases and new treatment approaches are
investigated by creating various disease models. During these studies, the
anatomy of laboratory animals must be fully known in order to obtain
reproducible results by choosing the right model and applying the right
practices. In this section, detailed information about the comparative anatomy
of mice, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits to be used in experimental studies is
explained.
