Drug Hypersensi̇ti̇vity
Adverse drug reactions can be broadly categorized into Types A and B. Most adverse reactions are Type A, which can occur to anyone and are predictable based on a drug's known pharmacologic properties. Because they mainly affect sensitive patients, Type B responses are less common and are rarely predictable by a drug's known pharmacologic properties.
Immunologic or allergic drug reactions are a subcategory of type B reactions. The Type I–IV classification method developed by Gell and Coombs can be used to group immunologic drug reactions into four categories.
